“Sleeping Pills Causing Alzheimer’s”

BMJ Magazine in August 2025 has a new study showing that Ambien, Lunesta, and other sleeping pills increase Alzheimer’s risk 81% after just 3 months. One in four seniors are now prescribed sleeping pills. URMC’s January 2025 study revealed how these meds suppress the brain’s glymphatic system that clears Alzheimer’s-linked plaque. The Alzheimer’s Society’s November 2024 AAC conference report linked sleeping pills to 79% higher falls in patients, urging a stop to the prescribing of these drugs.
